Jowds 6

‘Jowds’ means ‘rocks’ in ancient Cornish. The rugged coastline in West Penwith has been the inspiration for this series. Fissures, caverns, erosion, surface textures, colours and challenging cathedral-like rock structures.

I have used combinations of textured and coloured clay bodies, as well as adding combustible materials in parts of the mix. The surfaces have been enriched with oxides and slips.
